Capital Kava

Home of Australia’s finest kava, direct from Vanuatu

From the farmers of the Vanuatu islands of Pentecost and Malekula, the agents that select, weigh and pay the farmers, and the staff at the processing factory in Port Vila, Vanuatu, that receive the Kava, clean it, peel and sun dry the Kava by hand ready for export to Australia, Capital Kava it is a family run and operated business.

Capital Kava buys direct from the indigenous farmers that have been growing the Kava for 5 years or more without the use of pesticides, and 100 percent organically. The Kava is then shipped from the rural gardens immediately to the factory in Port Vila, Vanuatu, to be checked for any imperfections, cleaned, dried, and processed in line with Australian and NZ food standards. Before finally the essential and compulsory Government of Vanuatu’s Phyto and quality tests are done before it is cleared to be exported to Australia.

We, as a family in Vanuatu and here in Australia, are very passionate about our high-quality Kava, as well as sharing the traditions around Kava with the world. Our aim is simply to ensure that we are always growing and selling the best quality Kava powder. This means the drinker is enriched with the high quality effects that Kava gives them and for longer, without the nasty after effects that other low quality Kava products may give you, and giving the drinker a far better experience.

This has been proven as we are very highly sought after in the USA, sold through our client Kalm with Kava. This is the same Premium Kava sold by Capital Kava. We also send Kava to Europe where, just like Australia, has a new and growing market for Kava.Capital kava, our family at Vanuatu Wise, and the farmers of Vanuatu are very proud to supply the Australian community with the very finest Vanuatu Noble Kava powder in the world.

Capital Kava
Hi everyone! It has officially been one year since we first opened the kava bar down at Bowen Park!Reflecting on this time it has felt like it has gone so fast. First of all I want to say a big thank you to our customers. Without your support we would be unable to build the business like we have. I have shared a shell with many of you and consider you all my friends. Thank you to the various places over the year we have set up, including the Old Bus Depot Markets , Canberra Public Golf Course- Narrabundah , Canadian High Commission, Black Mountain Peninsula and Bowen Park Barton. Thank you to the organisations that have shown support like the Vanuatu High Commission and Australian Government for thinking of us when Pacific delegates come to town. A thank you to the community groups and different delegations that have passed by to enjoy the kava bar here in Canberra. The support from you all have allowed us to raise money for the red Cross Pacific Emergency fund after the devistating earthquake in Vanuatu. I would like to extend a special thank you to the people that have at various times helped set up, pack up or mix the kava, also to my family who have supported us during this time. And finally I would like to give a huge thank you to Garigarra and Lolowia Hazell, you guys have been so patient with us. Also Garra you have helped me more than you know. ❤️Also thank you to anyone I have missed that has had an impact or shown support to the kava bar.My vision for the kava business and the kava bar has allways been off the experience I have had with kava in Vanuatu. From the respect given when served and drunk with others shown by people of Pentecost in thier custom. To the kava bars in Port Vila, where you could be a member of the public and share a shell of kava with the Prime Minister and be considered to be peers and share thoughts and ideas. Kava is truely special and has an ability to relax you and make you feel happy all while allowing you to socilise. I hope the kava bar has lived up to this and I hope it continues to strive towards this vision.Lastly I just want to say that the end of last year my Tuta (Grandmother) passed to which was very hard on the family. In honour of her we hung a red mat from the counter top everytime we opened the bar. To the people who came to the bar and lifted a shell in honour of her. Thank you! She and her husband lived their life promoting the goodness of community and you all showed me exactly why it is so important. RIP Tuta 🙏🏼 ❤️Malogu! ... See MoreSee Less
